The Chicago Reporter analyzed federal home mortgage lending data released Wednesday by the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council, on six geographies: the nation and metropolitan divisions in Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York and Philadelphia. The Reporter based its approval rates on the number of originations; loans that were approved but not accepted by applicants; and loans denied in each of those geographies. The Reporter counted only applications for owner-occupied manufactured housing or owner-occupied one-to-four families.
