Revenue sources

The state’s share of public education spending in Illinois decreased three years in a row from the 2001-2002 school year to the 2004-2005 school year, the latest year for which data were available. Since the 1995-1996 school year, the state has never provided more than a third of the total dollars spent on public education in Illinois.
